Hydrocephalus

Hydrocephalus is an abnormal build-up of fluid in the brain. The most common treatment for it is the surgical insertion of a tube called a shunt to drain the fluid – a process that requires neurosurgical interventions but still leaves the patient with an enlarged head. However, in Uganda, there is hope for thousands of children through a one-off surgery alternative to shunt placement. The ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Brenda Cheruiyot met 13-year-old Milan Ochieng who benefited from this treatment when he was a baby.
