Ed Slater: Facing up to motor neurone disease

The former Gloucester and England rugby player speaks to 大象传媒 Breakfast's Sally Nugent about his life-changing diagnosis for the first time.

When Gloucester rugby star Ed Slater started feeling muscle twitches in his arm 11 months ago, he didn't think much of it. He'd felt twitches like these before so took it two or three months before he told anyone. But, when until it started happening 24/7, he decided to go for a check-up and got a diagnosis that shocked him and his family.

At the end of July, he announced he'd been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) and confirmed his retirement from rugby union with immediate effect. Now - he's talking about it publicly for the first time.
