‘You’re not only living from one scan to the next for your baby, but also for your mum’

Pregnancy and new motherhood can be an exciting and joyful time, but what about becoming a mum when you’re losing your own?

In 2017, when listener Hannah was 24-weeks pregnant, her mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died when her grandchild turned one. She joined Emma Barnett on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 4's Woman's Hour to discuss her experience. Whilst she was grateful to have that time with her mum, it left her feeling pulled in two directions during her pregnancy and first year of motherhood.

Listen to the full interview from 1 September on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds, including advice from consultant perinatal psychologist Julianne Boutaleb.
