In a climactic battle, the unit and their allies team up to fight the Camarilla's takeover of Fort Salem - but there is much more at stake than that. Now that Hearst has got to the Mother, the source of the witches' power is gravely debilitated and with it the safety of the entire world.

As Raelle suffers with the ailing mycellium, to which she is connected, Alder, who is equally affected, races across the world to track down the final piece of the First Song and unearths some long-erased histories of the witches' ancestry.

Meanwhile, back at Fort Salem, the Camarilla are availing themselves of technologies that learn and improve from the witches' own work, to neutralise it. What do the witches have left to fight back with?
