Extinction Rebellion: Scientist glued herself to government building
Emma Smart from Weymouth is a scientist. She had a career as an ecologist, but climate change has changed her life.
Emma's so concerned about what will happen if we do nothing about global warming that she gave up her job and began taking direct action.
As a result she's spent time in prison. And has been found not guilty of criminal damage after the case against her was thrown out of court. The magistrates ruled that that there was no case to answer and that the scientists were exercising their rights to protest under the Human Rights Act.
The UK's climate minister Graham Stuart says plans to allow oil and gas exploration in the North Sea will be "good for the environment". He says the move was "entirely compatible" with climate targets.
Licences are being made available for sectors of the North Sea - known as blocks - with the government-owned North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) estimating more than 100 may be granted.
