'I've had stop paying myself so the business can carry on' Cost of Living crisis hits independent businesses
The owner of a much-loved family-owned Birmingham cafe has shared her fears for the future as the cost of living crisis rocks the independent business. Rachel Lewis, who owns Bournville Cafe in Bournville says it’s been an ‘everyday fight’ to keep the cafe open, forcing her to stop taking wages and put prices up for customers. Rachel said the sharp price rise of ingredients and hike in energy costs are making the business's future look bleak.
