Dorset mum supports plans for new young person's mental health unit in Bournemouth
A Dorset mum, whose daughter has received mental health care outside the county, is supporting plans for a new psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) for young people.
Dorset HealthCare wants to build the eight-bed centre in Bournemouth, so more seriously ill youngsters can be cared for locally rather than being sent elsewhere for treatment - sometimes hundreds of miles away from their family and friends.
Mum Hazel has been speaking to our Dorset breakfast show presenter Steve Harris about her experience of travelling for hours to see her daughter when she was being cared for outside the county.
