Aflatoxin poison: scientists in Uganda have developed a technology that detoxifies grain
Africa loses more than 670 million US dollars in export earnings to aflatoxin in farm produce every year, according to a report by the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa. A huge loss in the midst of a biting food shortage particularly in East Africa, a region emerging from a prolonged drought. However, scientists in Uganda have developed a technology that detoxifies grain to help prevent further wastage and improve food security. The 大象传媒鈥檚 Brenda Cheruiyot reports.
