Remembrance: Stories from a disappearing generation

WWII veterans Neil Flanigan, a bomber aircraft technician, and Christian Lamb, a Wren, share their remarkable memories of the war.

Hearing stories, like those of Neil Flanigan and Christian Lamb, is becoming increasingly rare. They are among the few Second World War Veterans still able to recall their experiences. Even the youngest of those who were there, are now approaching their one hundredth birthdays.

Neil joined the RAF in Jamaica where he was born and brought up, and crossed the Atlantic to train in avionics, and work as a technician on bomber aircraft. Christian joined the Women's Royal Naval Service, working in signals, tracking the progress of North Atlantic shipping convoys, as they tried to evade German U-boats - including on one occasion - the very ship her own fianc茅 was sailing in.

In this episode of 5 Minutes On - to mark the period of remembrance - the 大象传媒's Special Correspondent Alan Little, and producer Simon Lister, have been hearing the remarkable stories of WWII veterans.
