Hundreds of enthusiasts from across the country gathered at Bruntingthorpe air museum in Leicestershire to watch the only 'mach two' fighter jet to be built in Britain.

The 'Lightning' was designed to be scrambled at speed in case of a Russian attack, and defended the UK skies throughout the1960's,70's and 80's.

It's faster than Concorde - but the gathering was just to feel, hear and watch the plane come alive BEFORE take off only!
