The Autumn Statement: How will it affect you?

With the UK facing a cost-of-living crisis, the 大象传媒's Economics Correspondent Dharshini David looks at how the government's tax and spending plans will impact you.

The UK faces major economic challenges, with soaring living costs and a warning from the Bank of England that the country is facing its longest recession since records began. It's the Chancellor's job to come up with plans to restore the country's finances - a task he'll begin on Thursday 17th November, when he sets out to Parliament the government's tax and spending plans.

We know already that tax is set to go up. Jeremy Hunt has said "we are going to see everyone paying more". But beyond that, everything is on the table. The Autumn Statement also follows Kwasi Kwarteng's controversial mini-budget. In the days that followed, the pound tumbled against the dollar and government borrowing costs soared.

So what could be in the Autumn Statement? And how will take-home pay, household budgets, and money for public services by impacted?

The 大象传媒's Economics Correspondent Dharshini David has the answers to five key questions.
