"There's one area a couple of minutes from the station where out of about eight lights, six of them are out."
大象传媒 Essex's Sonia Watson spoke to Steve, who got in touch with 大象传媒 Essex about broken street lights and Karen Whybro, a womens safety campaigner.
A spokesperson for Essex Highways said: 鈥淭hese lights are currently the responsibility of the developer of the area. Although we own these lights, we temporarily hand over the responsibility while the land is being developed.
We will take back the maintenance of these lights once the development has been completed and we are satisfied that the lights are up to standard.鈥
A Basildon Council spokesperson said: 鈥淭his is a very difficult situation but unfortunately the lights in question are not the responsibility of Basildon Council. We will be visiting the site next week and are happy to meet Mr Cooper to help get the situation sorted.鈥
Swan Housing says ' We can confirm we are responsible for the lights and would like to thank Mr Cooper for bringing this to our attention so we can arrange to have them fixed.
