Epic Games to pay more than $500 million fine
Epic Games will pay more than $500 million to the Federal Trade Commission.
The Federal Trade Commission has accused Epic Games, the maker of video game Fortnite, of illegally collecting data on children without parental consent, as required by the US law.
Epic Games will pay more than $500 million as part of the settlement to the FTC, which is the biggest pay out in its history.
The games company said, 鈥淲e accepted this agreement because we want Epic to be at the forefront of consumer protection and provide the best experience for our players,鈥 We share the underlying principles of fairness, transparency and privacy that the FTC enforces, and the practices referenced in the FTC鈥檚 complaints are not how Fortnite operates.鈥
