Supermarket pharmacy worker helps save life of customer
Fiona Shearer from Weymouth acted after woman collapsed and stopped breathing in Asda.
Pharmacy worker Fiona Shearer helped save the life of a 58-year-old customer who had a stroke and stopped breathing while collecting her medication.
Fiona and an off-duty nurse called Heidi who happened to be in the Asda store in Weymouth at the time dashed to help the lady. She grabbed a defibrillator to monitor the stricken woman until an ambulance arrived, while tapping and stroking her face and talking to her to help her come round.
Fiona told 大象传媒 Radio Solent reporter Laurence Herdman: "Her heart was stopping in between, so if we hadn't been there, if she had been at home on her own she wouldn't have survived. You just do it, I know some people might not be able to, but it's one of the things I can do, and you do it".
Asda Weymouth customer trading manager Sue Hatchyard said: "I don't think you can put into words how proud we are of Fiona - I thought she was fabulous before this incident, but this just raises her to a whole new level."
Fiona has been nominated for an Asda service superstar by store manager Linsey McLucas.
