Teachers in Essex set for strike action
Members of the National Education Union have voted to take action in a row over pay.
They say an offer of around 5% is a real-terms cut, and that it also has to come from existing school budgets.
Around 300,000 teachers were balloted, and strike action will take place on February 1st.
The Government says it can't afford a bigger pay rise, adding the 5% was set by an independent pay body.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex speaks to Murray Sackwild, Branch Secretary for the National Education Union in the East, and Grainne Hallahan from Brentwood who is a Senior Analyst at TES, formerly the Times Educational Supplement.
