Rare Lychgate in Kibworth is listed by 'Historic England'

A small building in plain sight in Kibworth has turned out to be a little gem of Victorian architecture.

The rare and ornate Lychgate in Kibworth cemetery has just been listed by 'Historic England'. Lychgate literally means 'a corpse gate or entrance' to a cemetery or churchyard.

A building is listed when it is of special architectural or historic interest considered to be of national importance and therefore worth protecting.

Kevin Feltham, Parish Councillor for Kibworth, tells Ben Jackson more about the Lychgate's history and why 'Historic England' has deemed it so special.
