Hundreds without phone or internet in Danbury

A vehicle crashed into the exchange box, causing the internet and phonelines to go down.

Four hundred customers have been left without landline phones or internet after an exchange box was badly damaged in a road traffic accident.

The disruption has also affected the Danbury Medical Centre, where some staff have had to work from other locations in order to access patients鈥 records. 大象传媒 Essex also understands that a nearby petrol station has only been able to accept cash payments.

Openreach said in a statement:
鈥淥ur engineers have been working hard to repair a cabinet on Maldon Road, Danbury after it was badly damaged in a road traffic accident in the early hours of 27 January, affecting broadband and phone services to around 400 customers.
鈥淲e attended and made the area safe, but repairs of this nature are complex. We鈥檙e doing our best to get everyone back online as quickly as possible and hope to have repairs complete by 31 January.
鈥淲e understand how frustrating this must be for anyone is affected; we encourage anyone experiencing any disruption with their phone or broadband service to report it to their service provider who will then inform us鈥.
