LeBron James: The NBA's all time leading scorer

LeBron James has become the NBA's all-time leading scorer, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. On the latter's retirement in 1989, he ended his career with 38,387 points and by that stage Abdul-Jabbar had held the points record for five years. But no longer. With 38 points in the LA Lakers' loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron set a new record of 38,390.

LeBron James entered the league in 2003 as the number one overall draft pick, at just 18 years old, straight from high school. That's not allowed anymore as there’s now a lower age limit of 19 for NBA players. Sport Today spoke to Dru Joyce who was LeBron's high school coach from his time at St Vincent-St Mary in his home town of Akron, Ohio.
