Taxi drivers targeted by criminals
Chelmsford cabbies tell ´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex they've been assaulted and robbed of cash.
Private hire taxi drivers in Chelmsford have told ´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex they are being targeted by thieves.
They say there have been 11 incidents in the last three months, although not all of them have been reported to the police.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex speaks to Layiq Sediqi, Wahid Quaraishi, both private hire drivers from Chelmsford who have been victims to this crime, as well as Naseer-Ahmed Momand who was in a similar situation back in August when his taxi was stolen from him.
Essex Police say in a statement:
"We need anyone who is a victim of crime, or anyone who has any information about an incident or an issue, to report it to us. We cannot investigate crimes, or support victims, if we don’t know an offence has taken place.
"Reporting offences or concerns also helps us identify trends of crime types or issues within a particular location, and this informs decisions about where we need to focus our resources. This information also allows us to identify any groups within our communities who are being targeted and who we may need to engage with and support."
