'It was an eye opener to see so many animals suffering'
Rescued pigs back on their feet thanks to ingenious Leicester designer.
A herd of 100 pigs have been rescued from poor condition and helped back on their feet - quite literally - thanks to a Leicester design firm.
The animals were discovered in horrendous conditions, forced to live among carcasses of other animals before they were taken in by Welsh animal sanctuary 'Beneath the Wood'.
It meant their rescuers faced a challenge when it came to caring for them, particularly the largest pig named Gandalf, who weighs more than half a ton and is 7ft long. That is when 'Beneath the Wood' approached Leicester firm 'Designeering' to see if they could come up with a solution.
The firm came up with a lift which is strong enough to pick up animals weighing from 150kg to more than 600kg. Now Gandalf and his friends are able to have a "piggy pedicure". And this means that the animals can now lead healthier lives.
S茅bastien de La Hamayde, creative director at 'Designeering' tells Summaya Mughal how they came up with the plan strong enough to pick up the animals.
