What is Green Tobacco Sickness?
While tobacco leaf production is decreasing globally, the World Health Organization says it is increasing in the WHO Africa Region. Tobacco kills over 8 million people every year and destroys the environment harming human health. While diseases affecting people who smoke are well known, Green Tobacco Sickness (GTS) is less talked about. GTS is a type of nicotine poisoning that occurs while handling tobacco plants.
