Passport Strikes – Will Summer Plans be Hit?
The Public and Commercial Services union says it wants to cause maximum disruption during the peak period when people get their passports renewed for the summer.
More than a thousand civil servants at the Passport Office are now on strike - as part of a dispute over pay, pensions, and job security. The Public and Commercial Services union has warned of delays to applications and the delivery of passports. To mitigate the impact on services, the Home Office is deploying staff who have previously worked in Passport Offices during busy times of the year. But with the peak period for people getting their passports renewed for the summer now upon us, the PCS union says it wants to cause maximum disruption.
