Bill Clinton visited three times during his presidency, George W. Bush twice, and Barack Obama once.
It's sometimes even said that the United States is the "third guarantor" of the Good Friday Agreement - after Britain and Ireland, the two nations charged in international law with upholding the deal.
The current president Joe Biden - who speaks of his Irish roots more than most - is visiting Northern Ireland to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement - albeit under circumstances that are less than ideal.
