Sudan crisis: What is the situation in Khartoum?

Crisis has gripped Sudan as the country enters a third day of violent clashes.

Almost 100 civilians have died and hundreds have been injured, according to the Sudanese doctors' union. An unknown number of fighters have been killed but dead bodies are reported to have been left lying in the streets.

The military has conducted several airstrikes against positions held by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The fighting is a result of a vicious power struggle within the country's military leadership.

Germain Mwehu of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Khartoum told Newsday: "The main concern for many people in Khartoum and other cities affected by fighting is that people can't go out, it means that people can't get enough food."

He added that "fighting is happening in areas which are densely populated."
