Ralph Yarl: 'He has the will to live' says aunt
An 85-year-old man has been charged with assault after he shot a black teenager who had mistakenly rung his doorbell in the US state of Missouri.
Andrew Lester - who is white - faces two felony charges for firing at Ralph Yarl through a glass door on Thursday.
The 16-year-old sustained injuries to the head and arm. He had picked the wrong home when sent to pick up his siblings.
A prosecutor said the case had what he described as a "racial component".
Dr Faith Spoonmore is the aunt of Ralph Yarl. She told Newsday: 鈥淗e accidentally went to the wrong house. He rung the doorbell and the man in the house came outside and shot him鈥 and again when he was on the ground. Luckily because Ralph has the will to live he was able to get up and run to get help.鈥
