Sudan: Who is suffering from the fighting?
The United Nations is sending a special envoy to Sudan to coordinate humanitarian operations there, as fighting between rival military factions entered its third week.
The UN emergency relief coordinator Martin Griffiths said he would explore how to bring immediate relief to the millions of Sudanese people whose lives have been turned upside down overnight. The worst of the fighting in the capital, Khartoum, has been in the north of the city.
One woman in Khartoum, who is unnamed for safety reasons, told Newsday: 鈥淭here is no water, there is no electricity. There is a problem in the food supply鈥ll the shops鈥ost of them are empty now and others鈥re rising the price. Most of the people who got chronic disease鈥yself, I am using insulin. I cannot find any insulin now.鈥
