Trump-Russia investigation: political bias or political spin?

A report in the US has strongly criticised the FBI over its handling of the investigation between Russia and Donald Trump's presidential campaign in 2016.

A long-awaited report in the United States has strongly criticised the Federal Bureau of Investigation over the way it investigated allegations of collusion between Donald Trump's presidential campaign in 2016 and Russia.

The findings were made by the Special Counsel, John Durham, who was appointed by the Trump administration four years ago. The report says the FBI - the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States - relied on raw and unverified intelligence.

An initial Justice Department inquiry found that there had been no evidence of political bias by the FBI. Newsday unpacked the controversial conclusion with Bradley Moss, a national security attorney in Washington.

鈥淲hen you dig into the Durham report... you find that John Durham actually ultimately concluded that the [FBI] investigation could have started the way it more or less did but that it should have been a preliminary investigation instead of a 'full investigation' - that is basically a bureaucratic critique... This was a political spin by John Durham in his role Special Counsel."
