Ron DeSantis to launch 2024 presidential bid
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his 2024 presidential bid on Wednesday.
Mr DeSantis is viewed as former president Donald Trump's chief rival for the Republican Party's nomination.
The governor joins a growing list of contenders seeking to unseat Mr Trump, who leads by more than 30 points in national opinion polls.
Mike Murphy is a Republican strategist who has been an adviser to Republican figures such as John McCain, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He told Newsday: 鈥淒eSantis is running鈥s a dime store version of Donald Trump. A little less loud, a little less jarring, a lot younger and in his argument鈥uch more likely to beat Biden.鈥
