President Erdogan extends rule in Turkey
President Erdogan has extended his rule for another five years with victory in Turkey's election. He saw off opposition leader, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, in the second round run-off election as neither candidate had secured an outright majority in the first round two weeks ago.
Mr Erdogan promised his jubilant supporters in Ankara, to build a strong economy and called for unity.
Mehmet Mehdi Eker, an MP for the ruling AKP, said the election had shown how a "vibrant democracy" works and that President Erdogan's narrative is "to bring people together again for a bright and brilliant future".
