Ugandan activist warns of "state sponsored genocide" after anti-gay law approval
LGBTQ community members in Uganda say they are scared for their lives. Some are closing down social media accounts and fleeing their homes for safe houses.
Uganda's President Museveni signed one of the harshest anti-LGBTQ bills in the world into law on Monday.
Steven Kabuye, a 25 year old gay man, describes how he and other members of Uganda's LGBTQ community are receiving death threats. He says the new law is "inhuman" and could lead to "state sponsored genocide".
Steven says he's already had to flee to a safer location in the country but that it's still important to raise awareness and protect LGBTQ rights in the country.
