Scientists say our planet is in 'danger zone'

A new study reveals that the Earth has pushed past seven out of eight scientifically established safety limits and put our planet into 鈥渢he danger zone鈥.

The study, by the international scientist group Earth Commission and published in the journal Nature, looks at climate, air pollution, water contamination, the unbuilt natural environment and the overall natural and human-built environment.

Earth Commission co-chair, Professor Joyeeta Gupta, told Newsday: 鈥淭he way we have been behaving in the last 20, 30 years, we鈥檝e really over-used our resources and polluted the atmosphere so much that we鈥檙e in a danger zone. We are beyond the safe and just parameters.鈥
