'I am a proud son of the Windrush generation'
Commemorations are underway to mark 75 years since the Empire Windrush landed on British shores.
The ship the Windrush signifies for many the start of mass migration from the Caribbean - where people were encouraged to move to Britain to help rebuild the country post-war, and in return, were given a permanent right to live and work in the UK.
Many settled into a new life in Leicester, to work in all sorts of industries including transport, construction and the NHS.
One of Windrush's most famous sons here in Leicester is the Director of Public Health Ivan Browne. Ivan has been telling Ady Dayman about his family's story.
