Windrush Day 75: Mykal Brown MBE
It is the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the ship - the Empire Windrush.
Many of the passengers were from the Caribbean who had been invited to come over to help rebuild Britain after the second world聽war.
Windrush Day is to celebrate all the ways the Windrush generation and their descendants have helped shape modern Britain and influenced our culture.
Music is a big one, of course, and Birmingham is actually home to one of the country's longest running sound systems - which has become a pillar of the UK reggae scene.
Mykal Brown MBE, who's a college lecturer and community activist from Handsworth, started Wassifa Sound System as a schoolboy - making speaker stacks with friends in his back garden.
