Windrush 75: Beverly Lindsay
Beverly Lindsay was born in Jamaica and moved to Handsworth as a young teenager in 1964.
A single mom of two before she turned 20, things were tough.
She worked in nursing and midwifery before starting a travel agency on Dudley Road, Ladywood, for the last 36 years helping families return to the Caribbean.
Now she has an OBE and is the first black woman appointed Vice Lord-Lieutenant for the West Midlands.
