Stephen Lawrence – a new suspect revealed

The Met Police made a string of failings in its investigation into the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence. Now, ´óÏó´«Ã½ News has discovered evidence pointing towards a sixth suspect.

The murder of 18-year-old Stephen Lawrence is the UK's most notorious racist killing. The failure of the Metropolitan Police Force's first investigation into his death prompted a landmark public enquiry which concluded the Met was institutionally racist. Up to now, it was believed that a gang of five young white men were responsible for Stephen's murder - two were convicted, three other well-known suspects are still free. ´óÏó´«Ã½ News correspondent Daniel De Simone has been continuing to investigate the crime since the Met ended its own inquiries in 2020. For 5 Minutes On, he explains how he has uncovered new evidence on a sixth suspect.
