Men to compete in artistic swimming at Olympics for the first time
Men will now be allowed to compete in artistic swimming - formerly known as synchronised swimming - at the Olympics, with the first mixed teams expected at Paris 2024.
The new rules permit no more than two men in a team of eight competitors and the world was given a preview at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, where each nation that picked up medals had a male on their team.
Adam Andrasko is the head of USA Artistic Swimming for men. He told Newsday: 鈥淭his is a monumental moment鈥o have males and females competing together as one, is extremely unique and really exciting.鈥
