Children at a Leicester Primary School have been told that they'll have to continue being taught in temporary accommodation after the summer holidays after their school was shut down over structural concerns.

Mayflower Primary School was one of dozens of schools shut all over the country after the reinforced concrete they were made out of was deemed potentially dangerous.

It's been closed since Apri and has meant that some children couldn't sit their SATS.

Jai goes to Mayflower and is going into Year Six in September - he was taught in a mobile at Judgmeadow Community College during the last few weeks of term.

Jai and his mum Modha have been talking to reporter Jo Hollis, and Ady Dayman speaks with Geoff Barton is the General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders and Mayflower Primary School Headteacher Luke Whitney.

A Leicester City Council Spokesperson told us that 'they're working closely with the Department for Education to provide temporary classrooms for the duration of these building works, which may be required for a year or more'.

A Department for Education spokesperson said 'The school remains closed while investigations continue.聽We are in regular contact with the schools and the council to solve this as soon as possible and are working closely with them to minimise the impact of closures and ensure continuity of education for pupils.'
