Eritrean refugee in Italy: 'I miss my country every day'

Eritrean refugee Alazar is living in Italy and says he left his country because he lost two brothers in the war there and another brother was killed by the authorities for his beliefs.

He says he also didn't have the freedom to decide his own future, facing the prospect of military service like his dad who did it for 40 years.

Alazar鈥檚 journey to Italy was a difficult one which lasted many years. At the age of 16 he was tortured and had his legs broken by traffickers in their prison in Libya, who only freed him after a relative in the US paid them.

He also managed to stay alive during the civil war in Ethiopia. He says he, "misses his country every day," especially the food brought on by the smell and the music that makes him emotional when he hears it.
