Honeymooners forced to evacuate Corfu fires
Corfu has become the latest Greek island to issue an evacuation order, as the country grapples with wildfires.
A fire broke out on the northern part of the island, which is popular with British tourists. Photos uploaded to social media show flames engulfing Corfu.
Greece has been grappling with searing heat, with temperatures exceeding 40C across the country, and fires have blazed for nearly a week in some areas.
Rachael Windsor is currently on her honeymoon on Corfu. She told Newsday: 鈥淲e didn鈥檛 have any phone signal so we didn鈥檛 know anything was happening until we were sat on the patio having a cup of tea and suddenly ash started raining from the sky. We googled, couldn鈥檛 find any information so we thought, no big deal, just a bonfire, went inside and then a neighbour came round saying, 鈥榟aven鈥檛 you heard the emergency alert? We need to evacuate鈥.鈥
