IVF: How a lesbian couple got the rules changed
When Megan and Whitney Bacon-Evans started their baby journey, they were shocked to realise that IVF rules for heterosexual couples and same-sex couples were very different.
Heterosexual couples were entiled to a round of IVF on the NHS if they were unsuccessful in becoming pregnant after two years of unprotected sex - for gay couples, they would have to pay out of pocket for up to 12 rounds before they would be offered the same chance.
Megan and Whitney decided to campaign against what they call the 'gay tax' and have successfully argued their case, with the Department for Health and Social Care saying they want to make these changes by the end of the year.
The couple tell Today's Chris Mason about their journey.
