Niger's Ambassador to France: 'The President has high morale'
In West Africa, tensions continue to rise following a military coup in Niger.
On Sunday the regional bloc Ecowas issued an ultimatum to those behind the coup: restore democracy within seven days, or face the prospect of force. Overnight, neighbouring Burkina Faso and Mali have issued a joint statement saying any military intervention in Niger would be regarded as a declaration of war on them. Leaders of the two countries also came to power by force.
Niger's Ambassador to France and the United Kingdom, Aichatou Kane spoke to Newsday from Paris, France saying that "all Nigeriens support the Ecowas firm decisions".
