Middleton and rain get Hants over the line in 50 over opener
21 year old Fletcha Middleton did in his eleventh List A game what his father Tony failed to do in 61 List A matches and that was score a hundred.
When the rain fell at the Ageas bowl, Hampshire were 238 for 5, needing to score another 72 runs off 77 balls to beat the Middlesex total of 309-7.
Hants were ahead of the DLS calculation at that point and so with the match abandoned, the county won by 18 runs (DLS method).
"Ive been told told I'm one up on my Dad." said 21 year old Middleton who was out for exactly 100 just before the players left the field for rain.
"We thought Middlesex were about 30 (runs) above par."
