Donald Trump has described his latest court appearance as a "very sad day for America", after pleading not guilty to conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Mr Trump faces three separate criminal trials in the coming months but remains the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination for next year's election.

Rina Shah is a political strategist and former senior staffer to two Republican congressmen. She told Newsday: 鈥淚 don鈥檛 think Donald Trump can make it past the general election鈥�I just don鈥檛 think that the American electorate wants a president that lost in 2020鈥�you don鈥檛 get another bite of the apple鈥�.
