Vigil in Huyton to promote tolerance 15 years on
In July 2008, when he was 18, Michael Causer from Whiston was brutally attacked while he slept at a house party in Liverpool. A few days later, on August 2, he died in hospital after brain surgery.
Four teenagers were charged over Michael鈥檚 death; one of them, James O鈥機onnor was given a life sentence for murder.
Michael was a young gay man who was training to be a hairdresser. His passing prompted his parents and members of the LGBTQ+ community to set up the Michael Causer Foundation to provide education, motivation and accommodation for young LGBTQ+ people.
To mark the 15th anniversary of Michael鈥檚 death, a vigil took place at Court Hey Park in Huyton.
