Dorset artist builds giant sand lizard on Purbeck hillside
Eilidh Middleton, from Church Knowle in Dorset, created the sand lizard in collaboration with Amphibian and Reptile Conservation. Habitat destruction threatens the existence of the sand lizard, which is only found in a small number of locations in England - including Dorset and Hampshire. Eilidh told Steve Harris she hopes the artwork will help raise awareness of the rare species; and that she wants the art installation to look fossilised to emphasise the habitat's vital importance.
