Leicestershire students open GCSE results
GCSE passes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland fall for a second year running – with 68.2 per cent of all grades marked at grades 4/C and above.
It brings results close to where they were in 2019 - the last year that exams were sat before Covid - when it was 67.3 per cent.
Grades spiked in 2020 and 2021 when exams were cancelled and results were based on teachers’ assessments.
The fall in passes is due to England's plan to get back to normal grades - ministers say it will add 'weight and credibility' with employers.
Today is a very special day for one Leicester school as Avanti Fields School has received its first set of GCSE Results.
Sara Palmer has been there to talk to students as they open the envelopes with their results.
