Six-year-old girl from Dorset with severe health problems wins national award

In her short lifetime, Violet Seymour from Poole has had five brain surgeries, two stoma surgeries and is awaiting an operation to remove her bladder - all at the tender age of just six.

Violet's mum, Holly Kieser, says her daughter has experienced various health problems since birth but never complains.

In recognition of all she's overcome, Holly nominated Violet for an 'Inspirational Child' award from the charity WellChild, which supports seriously ill children and their families.

Amy Mitchell from the charity told us it's a difficult process to pick the winners, but Violet stood out because she always thinks of other people.

Violet told Steve Harris she's looking forward to meeting Prince Harry, who is a patron of WellChild, when she collects her award at a ceremony in London.
