History of Holbeche House

There are concerns for the future of a historic house near Wall Heath, which is known for being the scene of the final stand of the men behind the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

Ringleader Robert Catesby and some of his Catholic co-conspirators fled to Holbeche House after Guy Fawkes had been caught preparing to blow up the Houses of Parliament in a bid to kill the Protestant King James 1.

418 years on, the house is boarded up but Dudley Council and Historic England are in talks with the owners of the site in a bid to protect it. 大象传媒 Radio WM's Steve Hermon has been looking into the history of Holbeche House with Wall Heath based historian and author John Sparry, while also investigating what plans are in place to maintain the Grade 2* listed building.
