Rishi Sunak says he's softening his approach to some of the UK's key climate policies - so what has changed, and why the sudden gear-change?

Less than 24 hours after 大象传媒 News revealed that Rishi Sunak was planning to water down key green targets on cars and boilers - the Prime Minister has confirmed a series of policy changes in a Downing Street speech.

The government is sticking to its commitment of reaching net zero by 2050 - but the path it wants the country to take to get there has changed. Net zero means emitting no carbon dioxide, or making up for emissions with other policies.

So why has Rishi Sunak made these changes now, and what's at stake for him and his government?
