History-maker Aishwarya Pissay: MotoGP in India offers ‘hope’
India is on the MotoGP race calendar for the first time in the sport’s history, but what impact will the race have on the country?
Indian motorcycle racer Aishwarya Pissay is a multiple national champion who knows how it feels to have success on the international stage, becoming India’s first athlete to win a world title in a two-wheel motorsport.
Pissay tells Sport Today’s Ed Harry how the excitement and pride of hosting a race like this has created “hope” and she hopes the event will help make a career in motorsport seem more “achievable” for people in India, particularly women and girls.
